Dr. K.P. Biswas M.Sc. Ph.D. D.F.Sc. (Bombay) E.F. (West Germany) F.Z.S. F.A.B.S. (Kolkata) initiated the work on Electro-physiology and Electric Fishing first in India in 1961 at Odisha. He designed and developed electric seine electric fish catcher electric gill net electric dip net and a new technique of harmless electric fishing for which patent applications have been filed. He guided eleven M.Sc. students and one Ph.D. student of Calcutta University and four M.F.Sc. students of West Bengal University of Fishery and Animal Sciences for their thesis work on electrophysiology and fishing with electricity. Miss Namrata Basu M.Sc. from Calcutta University and a research scholar of Electrophysiological Laboratory is actively associated with electrofisheries work for more than four years and was an active associate of the invention A new technique of harmless electricfishing.
